If this was true, any title containing the number 2018,2019,2020 would somehow had to be pushed, even if it had nothing to do with the year.

I figured that the date/year in the title tag mattered to Google but it very well could be that the CTR was positively affected, which caused a rise in rankings. I’m a firm believer in CTR having a major role in rankings.
